Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, Bangalore
Hello,
This time I went to one of the tourists hotspot in Bangalore that is Tipu Sultans Summer Palace.
This magnificent in wood, stone, mortar, and plaster was started by Nawab Hyder Ali khan in 1781 AD and completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791 AD. It is situated within the fort walls of Bangalore, Next to the Shree Venkataramana Temple. Though it looks like one storied pillared pavilion, It is actually double storied Building of symmetric plan, Typical of this style of architecture. Built on stone plinth, The facade has gigantic fluted pillars in wood with stone bases, that supports huge wooden beams constituting the structure. The pillars are in typical Indo-Islamic style painted and polished in two different colors to accentuate the carvings on them.
The walls and wooden ceilings of entire palace are painted in floral motif on madder red surfaces in muted warm colors, gilded and in great detail and beauty. The upper chambers and balconies can be accessed by four staircases leading to them. The central portion on the first floor, is a large hall leading off to four smaller rooms at its corner. These rooms are considered the zenana quarters. located in the two balconies on the north and south were the seat of state, where the sultan held audience and conducted his affairs of state. An inscription on a stone found in a palace describes it best as an 'Abode of happiness and envy of heaven.'
There is a nice and well maintained garden in front of palace
Children coming there enjoy playing with sprinklers
There is a Venkataramana Temple on right side of the palace
I went to the palace today, Sunday, January 31, 2016 in afternoon and I felt really troublesome to get the right path to get there from bus stop, because of construction work going on on the shortest path so it took lot of my time to reach there but once I reached there I felt relaxed, but the thing is I didn't felt like its a palace, nothing royal as compared to historical palaces of Maharashtra like Lal Mahal ( Red Palace ), Shaniwarwada. It is just 2 BHK with duplex with two balconies, actually its like I was expecting more than what it is because of the palaces I visited before, but still whatever it is it is nice & still a place worth visit once.
