St. Mary's Basiica, Bangalore

St. Mary's Basilica, Bangalore

Hi there,
This Wednesday, January 27, 2016 I visited St. Mary's Basillica in evening. a basilica is a church building that has been accorded special privileges by the pope. This is first time I have visited Church. It is the oldest church in Bangalore and is the only church in the state that has been elevated to the status of a minor basilica. It is famous for the festivities held during the St. Mary's Feast in the month of September each year, an event that attracts a number of devotees from in and around Bangalore.
It is consecrated in 8 September 1882, The basilica has been built in the Gothic style with arches, ornamental motifs and stained glass windows. Multiple columns and the tall spires of the basilica can be seen from quite a distance. The stained glass windows were removed during World War II and were subsequently restored in 1947.
It was a lovely feeling, Holy place for prayer and beautiful place to visit, There are some good eateries nearby also.

Location :
The church located in M. F. Noronha Road, Shivaji Nagar and is around 5kms from Bangalore Bus stand, city railway station and is around 34kms distant from Bangalore International Airport.
